Trade Unions Role within the South African Economy

Trade unions play a significant role within the South African economy and have been active in responding to the fiscal policies of government. COSATU has played an influential role in South Africa since its conception in December 1985, and is aimed at improving their members working conditions and ensuring participation in the struggle for peace and democracy. COSATU has provided various proposals regarding changes to the National Budget, aimed at economic growth and job creation support. As a leading trade union, with many members, COSATU represents a good portion of the nation’s workforce and is thus a good indication of changes the population would make to the national budget. COSATU has voiced its opinions quite loudly about the flaws within the National Development Plan that played a vital role in the 2014 Budget Speech by Minister Pravin Gordhan. The main objection being the proposed jobs plan whereby the target, to be reached by 2030, is the creation of 11 million jobs by way of the service sector and Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMME’s). The stigma associated with sexual promiscuity permeates every level of our society. I believe that in time people will demand freedom in the sexual and spiritual aspects of their lives.In order for this to occur a paradigm must be established that emphasizes wholism. Without this wholistic thought conflict can still exist and dogmatic religion is needed to band all the individuals into a splintered and confused mass. Within our current Newtonian paradigm, material realism, true wholistic thought is impossible. The scientific rules of strong objectivity, the notion that objects are independent from the mind and determinism prevent it. Strong objectivity was established when Descartes divided the world in to the objective and subjective spheres. This was done mostly as a compromise with the then all-powerful church, which would rule in matters of the subjective mind while science enjoyed freedom in the world of â€Å"reality†. Determinism is easiest under stood through analogy. Think of the universe as a bunch of billiard balls in a three dimensional pool table called space. If one were to know all the forces acting on these balls at any time it would be possible to extrapolate all future or past positions. This creates determinism and determinism destroys free will. The best example of this phenomenon in society would be the partisan political system and foreign policy. Sociologists and the public in general, see themselves and each other as one of these pool balls being kicked around. In this environment neither self-worth nor confidence is cultivated. These traits are vital in a society that increasingly asks its population to work unsupervised and off of the job site. In 1665 Isaac Newton drafted the theories which set us on the course that led to the materialism dominating our culture. The philosophy of materialism matches the paradigm of classical physics, material realism. Since this revolution our vision has been a mechanistic one. This vision was formed as a direct result of the changes in philosophical and political knowledge that came to light in the mid seventeenth century. The power and simplicity of Newton’s three laws of motion and the success of scientific empirical method caused nearly every influential thinker of the seventeenth, eighteenth and nineteenth centuries to use them as a model. Sociology was no exception to this. Auguste Comte, creator of sociology, first called his new science social physics. Comte delved even deeper into physical scientific terminology when looking for ways to describe the inner workings of social science hence the terms social statics and social dynamics. By subscribing to this worldview of classical physics we give our offspring and ourselves a life full of separation and conflict. Mechanism creates an abyss between humanity and the physical world. There has been no place made for consciousness except as a secondary unintended phenomenon†¦a galactic mistake. Though this would infer further need of grater returns to the company, the management may indeed get the direct opposite.   Motivation as indicated in the earlier sections in this paper should be self driving without a sense of coercion. Possible standards should always be est ablished in consultation with the staff to affect the general acceptability of the system by all.For the employees in the company, this would be viewed as part of the general initiative to render them unworkable.   Indeed, it has the capacity to spark unrest from the general sense of inferiority to attain the different set standards.   It is imperative that such level marks are set at the possible levels that the staff would be able to attain and more importantly in teams.4. ConclusionIt is from the above discussion that this paper concludes by supporting thesis statement that motivation in the workplace is the single most influential factor in achievement of higher productivity and profitability by an organization. By Yonas SD 2007 AAU Introduction This research is conducted on the conflict managementIts aims are describing and analyzing the different methods &techniques of these two institutions adopted to obvert& resolve conflict .Besides the research aimed to suggest on the peace keeping & peace building mechanism of these institutions in comparison to one another. Statement of the problem; Numerous conflicts in Africa, among the worst in world history, had been seen. Particularly after the end of cold war the scourge of violence has shown remarkable augmentation. Mean while international involvement to resolve Africa problems became least due to; insufficient political will of the international community, multiplicity of African conflicts, extended responsibility of international institutions, the setbacks it encounter (1993 in Somalia) are some of the factors. Presence of many ethnic groups & nationalities exceedingly contributed for the mushrooming of ethnic &other inter state conflict in the continent. Border conflict which is a colonial heritage ravaged the continent for a long period of time. Objective The basic objectives of this paper are: ?To show the importance of having regional mechanism for conflict prevention, management, ,promotion of peace ?To identify similarity ?To analyze their fragile side and sturdy side in order to suggest other possible means of forestalling conflict & establishing sustainable peace in the continent. Significance of the study This research is significant in three ways. Preliminary it serves as a guide on haw important it is having regional arrangements on the maintenance of international peace & security. Secondly, the evaluation of their techniques can clearly show as where the blunder was committed by the institutions, and thirdly it tells as haw to restructure in the direction of improving the mechanisms. Besides it can be used by concerned bodies as groundwork for further study. Limitations Among many limitations that I faced during my research the inaccessibility of archive materials & individuals has above reaching impact on the research .Until now many documents are exclusives for such kinds of studies. The short period of the AU life span doesn't permit as to make deep evaluation on its performance. Never the less we have tried our greatest endeavor to fill the gapes from other sources & techniques. Methods We employed primary courses such as referring the protocol of the establishment of Au &the protocol of the peace &Security Council of the AU &the constitution of the African Union. Books on conflict &conflict resolution are widely used during the research .Internet sources as well as policy documents were our other target during the research. Background Africa is made up of many list developed countries. It is a place for many conflicting factors. There are many factors to make the continent the arena for so many wrest conflicts in history. The artificial boundaries devised many of the African countries is one major factor for intense &numerous inter- state conflicts in Africa. Secondly, the existence of difference economic inequalities& socio economic declines side by side with economic regressions are major factors for intense inert state as well as intra state conflicts. Thirdly, absence of national state with the exception of Swaziland, Somalia, Lesotho, The best example is the case of Eritrean succession war the so called ?thirty year's war? of Africa that took lasted for 30 years [1962-1992].However, acute nationalism Fourthly, ideological Fifth, religious difference& ethnic diversity inside &among African countries is the deadly dynamic for copious inter state and intra state conflicts.
